Bons Mots
Jeannie Martineau – The Heart Behind Bons Mots
For the past seven years, I’ve had the gift of calling Jeannie my neighbor and friend. She is absolutely great, a blessing and a legend. Jeannie carries with her a light that brightens everyone around her.
It was Jeannie who inspired me to start the Bon Mots tradition for friends and family around me. In French, bon mots means “good word.” For years, she faithfully shared a daily morning message — short, meaningful reflections sent to those who felt inclined to receive a little encouragement each morning. These were never just words on a page; they were Spirit-guided reminders pointing us back toward love, truth, and the light.
Jeannie’s practice has become more than a neighborly kindness. It’s a living legacy — a rhythm of inspiration that continues to ripple outward. Each “good word” is like a seed planted in the soul, offering strength, perspective, and sometimes timely hope for the days ahead.
Her example shows us that it doesn’t take much to change the world around us: just a willing heart, a listening ear, and the courage to share what the Spirit places within. Jeannie reminds us that encouragement is a holy work, and that sometimes, the smallest words carry the greatest power.
